Driving Test Centre Swap Checker: Which 3 Centres Can You Move To?

We rebuild this page directly from DVSA's official list. In the version published 28 May 2026 we found 9 errors. We have not corrected them silently — every one is listed below with the working, so you can check it against GOV.UK yourself.

We never replace a DVSA figure with our own estimate. Where a distance is wrong or missing we label it and leave the centre in place, because the centre is still a valid option even when the mileage is not.

Distances that cannot be right (1)

• Folkestone → Herne Bay. DVSA lists options nearest-first, but Folkestone's list runs 16, 17, 3 miles. Herne Bay at 3 breaks that order, so the figure cannot be right. Confirmed by a second, independent check.

Distances that contradict themselves (2)

• Chelmsford → Colchester. DVSA gives Chelmsford to Colchester as 16 miles, but the reverse as 28. One of the two is wrong. Confirmed by a second, independent check.
• Galashiels → Hawick. DVSA gives Galashiels to Hawick as 17 miles, but the reverse as 7. One of the two is wrong. Confirmed by a second, independent check.

Options with no distance given (4)

• Gillingham → Sidcup (London). DVSA lists Sidcup (London) as an option from Gillingham but states no distance.
• Isles of Scilly → Penzance. DVSA lists Penzance as an option from Isles of Scilly but states no distance.
• Isles of Scilly → Camborne. DVSA lists Camborne as an option from Isles of Scilly but states no distance.
• Isles of Scilly → Bodmin. DVSA lists Bodmin as an option from Isles of Scilly but states no distance.

Centres listed twice (2)

• West Wickham (London). West Wickham (London) is published twice on the GOV.UK page — once under London and again under South-east England, with identical options. Merged to a single entry.
• Grimsby Coldwater. Grimsby Coldwater is published twice on the GOV.UK page — once under East Midlands and again under Yorkshire and the Humber, with identical options. Merged to a single entry.

Formatting faults we handled silently (5)

These did not change any figure, but would break a naive copy-and-paste: a missing space in the centre name; the word "about" omitted, unlike all other entries; a stray tab character in the entry; an en dash where every other entry uses a hyphen; no space between the number and "miles".

What we did not claim

A further 3 sets of distances are mutually inconsistent — three figures that cannot all be true at once. In each case we can prove one of the three is wrong but not which, and some have innocent explanations such as ferry crossings. We have left those alone rather than accuse DVSA of an error we cannot pin down.
